Our Founder's Story
Hi, I'm Josh, I am a multi-sport athlete and Eagle Scout and I’d like to help enrich the lives of low-income youth with the gift of sports and the many doors sports can open. Throughout my life, I've always believed I had the potential to be something more than just an average kid. I knew it was my purpose to make some kind of difference in the lives of people, to somehow make a significant impact on the world. I joined service clubs, took part in the Lion's Heart service organization, and completed an Eagle Scout service project. But, the desire to make a greater impact was still there, calling me. I began to think about the things that had made a significant impact on my life. I believed I could change the lives of other people if I could take the things that had impacted my life and sponsor them in the lives of others. I searched within myself and found athletics to be one of the most impactful things in my life. I can't begin to count the ways sports have impacted my life. From the lifelong friendships I've made through swimming at local swim clubs to the incredible teamwork skills sports have developed through local sports teams, athletics have seriously taken me to where I stand today. I learned through sports that goal setting combined with hard work leads to success. To this end, I’ve created a T-shirt business where 100% of profits are being donated to Every Kid Sports, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that helps kids from income-restricted families participate in youth sports so that they can experience the positive benefits of playing. I named my business United Athletic Company because I believe across the country we can unite and give every kid the opportunity to play. I picked Every Kid Sports because they provide kids in low-income families with up to $150 to be used for sports activities. This gives each kid the choice to play whatever sport they're interested in, knowing they have $150 to use to sign up. My starting goal is to raise enough money through T-shirt sales to give 50 kids the money they need to begin their athletic journey. You can do the math, $7500 is a pretty ambitious goal, but it's certainly not an impossible task. Together we can unite to help all kids pay for their athletic dreams regardless of financial status.
